More than 1000 Australians were recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours for meritorious, distinguished and conspicuous service. For the first time since the awards began, more women than men were recognised in the general division, with gender parity or better also at the three highest levels in the Order.

AWE member, CFA Board member and volunteer firefighter, gender equity champion and recipient of the Australian Fire Services Medal Dawn Hartog AFSM said, “I could not have achieved this without the support of my fellow CFA members and firefighters, my emergency service sector colleagues, mentors, family and friends who have been there for me every step of the way.”

AWE congratulates Dawn, and all award recipients, for their extraordinary contributions and service, and congratulates them for being recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday Honours.
