AWE & Disastrous – Leading in Disaster Recovery Scholarship

We were thrilled to offer two scholarships for current AWE members to attend the Leading in Disaster Recovery Workshop in Wellington New Zealand on 16 July 2025 – thanks to the generous support of Disastrous.

Hosted at the BNZ Partners Centre and facilitated by Elizabeth McNaughton, this one-day workshop will equip you with practical tools, strategies, and insights to navigate complex post-disaster recovery environments. It’s designed for women who want to lead with confidence and impact when it matters most.

You’ll also have the chance to take part in exclusive virtual Q&As with three powerhouse guest speakers:

Dr. Kate Brady – disaster recovery and public health expert
Hon Kiri Allan – former Minister for Emergency Management
Anne Leadbeater OAM – leading recovery specialist with deep community trauma experience

16 July 2025 from 9 am to 4 pm

• Scholarship includes full workshop fee (valued at $875)
• Travel is self-funded for those outside Wellington NZ

Selection Criteria

Applicants must:

• Be a member of the Australasian Women in Emergencies (AWE) Network
• Provide a statement about why they are applying.

The successful applicant will be selected based on their membership and on their statement.

Application Form

This scholarship covers the full workshop fee ($875). Travel costs are not included, so if you’re applying from outside Wellington New Zealand, you’ll need to cover your own travel and any accommodation.

We’re looking for women who are eager to grow their recovery leadership capability and are committed to sharing what they learn with others.
